Becoming More Efficient By Not Returning Calls

Print Share

Goal

Improve personal efficiency of a person

Problem

Missed telephone callers hinder the efficient completion of this goal by leaving no message and asking for a callback

Sebir

Personal efficiency develops through setting up a voicemail message that eliminates the need to always return a missed phone call. For instance, a person advises their people to instruct callers: "Please leave a detailed message and I will get back to you if you need me to". Those phoning are requested to be explicit about what they want instead of just asking for a return call Callers minimize the need for return calls because they clearly explain the purpose of their call, including whether they require a response, eliminating unproductive re-work

Breeding Hint 1

Think about how you might program your inbound communication infrastructure and devices to make information received completely clear and to minimize the need for time-wasting responses to those initiating the contact

Breeding Hint 2

Think how you might tap into the willingness of people to cooperate when by doing so they become personally more productive. In aggregate, fostering such behavior will contribute to greater workforce productivity and engagement
